Did you always want to be a writer?
When I was young about 5-7 I use to tell stories to by friends but I never thought I could make money from it so I never pursued it. But it has always been part of who I aso now that I am older I am going after the “impossible dream.”
Where did you get your inspiration for Kayla and the Chocolate tree?
I wanted to write a story that was new and would touch the lives of the children in this generation, I looked to what my children would like my oldest daughter Kayla has a love for chocolate. I know that lots of little girls and big girls love chocolate so I thought why not start there.
Do you work on more than one book at a time?
I always have several books at different stages. When I get a block I go to another one. Like everything in life you need help so sometimes a book is with someone else who is helping me to make it better, then I am working on something else.
When did you start writing books?
I started to write books when my youngest was in high school.
What was your favorite book growing up?
The Monster at the end of this Book
Do you have any kids?
I have two daughters, I am a step-mother to seven more, and I have adopted two into my heart. I also have six grandkids that I love with all my heart.
Do you have any hobbies?
Besides reading and writing, I love to be outside in God’s creation. I also really enjoy sitting outside and having my animals running around. I can call hello ladies and all the chickens and the guinea fowl come running. When I call hello family the goats come running.
I also love skiing with my husband and bike riding with my best friend.
What is your favorite place?
I enjoy anyplace outside in nature, by the ocean, near a lake or in the woods.
What is your favorite color?
I love purple and blue.
Where do you live?
I was born in Reno, NV. and I am still living there. I know it is hard to believe. But I have traveled a lot.
Where have you traveled to?
I have been to China, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Fuji, Cyprus, Israel, England, Belize, Honduras, Cozumel, Dubai, and Kenya.
Do you have any advice?
If there is something you really want to do go for it. If you are an adult you can still go for it. It is so rewarding to go for your dreams even if you don’t make tons of money. You can never buy the joy you feel when you have accomplish your dreams. Never give up on yourself or your dreams.
